Rail Travel

The nearest stations are Mâcon Loché for the TGV and Mâcon Ville for regional rail. Both are accessible from Paris.   An alternative is Chalon-sur-Saône, which if travelling from London involves a change of stations in Lille. The stations in Lille are about 700 metres apart or a two minutes journey on the underground Metro.

All three local stations are linked to Taizé and Massilly by the number 7 bus. Link to Bus service Mâcon Loché TGV station is in the countryside to the South West of Mâcon and is about 90 minutes from Paris Gare de Lyon and is about 30 minutes drive to 'Le Havre'.   Mâcon Ville station is, as you might expect, in Mâcon itself and is about 35 minutes drive to 'Le Havre.   Most days it is possible to arrange to collect a hire car at either station or get the bus.   Mâcon Loché is very close to the N79 and the simplest directions from Mâcon Ville are to head South from the station, pick up the N6 then turn West onto the N79 and in both cases follow the last part of the directions from the South.

Chalon-sur-Saône station is in the centre of town and is about 50 minutes drive to 'Le Havre.   Most days it is possible to arrange to collect a hire car at the station or it is short taxi ride to the car hire firms.   The simplest but not the most direct directions are to head South from the station, pick up the A6 motorway or N6 to Tournus then follow the last part of the directions from the North.

Car hire firms: Europcar and Hertz, the last time we contacted them, one of the staff members at Hertz in Mâcon spoke excellent English. Both hire firms are located in the Southern outskirts of Mâcon.
